My child, born in 2020, said the day’s feelings had changed from black in the morning to pink and then blue. A small mistake at school had been upsetting, but playing with friends after school changed the feeling to a favourite colour.

My child is very aware of what other people think and finds negative feelings harder to express, especially to adults. When I said it was okay to say ‘I’m upset,’ my child told me about some missing drawing supplies and asked for a hug.
